Traditional indian music instruments, always were a subject of creativity for me. The way they came up & the variety of sounds they make is exquisite to our sub-continent.
To celebrate these instruments along with the sounds they generate, i created few visualisation through processing sketches. I took the hints from the minimal illustration of the object – and interpreted a sound sample to define the shape of the instrument.
The sound samples used were from open sound banks from internet.org & other creative commons sources.
The plan was to create such sketch for as many instruments provided in the list about indian classical instruments on the wikipedia page. However, due to lack of availability of open sound bites for those instruments – i only made it till 4 instruments. Namely, Pipa, Been, Bansuri & Morchang.
The code for them can be found at my processing repository.
Following were the outputs.
